Cookie Policy
This page explains how RecipeoAI uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let a site recognise your browser, keep you signed in, remember settings, measure how the site is used, and show advertising. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and pixels, and we refer to all of them as "cookies" on this page.
2. Cookies we use
| Category | Purpose | Set by | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Sign-in, session management, security and bot protection. | RecipeoAI, Clerk, Arcjet | Session to about 1 year |
| Preferences | Remember your settings so the site works the way you expect. | RecipeoAI | Up to 1 year |
| Analytics | Understand which pages are used and how fast they load, so we can improve the site. | RecipeoAI and analytics providers | Up to 2 years |
| Advertising | Show and measure ads, limit how often you see an ad, and (with consent where required) personalise ads. | Google AdSense and its partners | Up to 13 months |
Needed for secure sign-in (handled by Clerk) and to protect the site from bots and abuse (Arcjet). The site cannot work safely without them, so they cannot be switched off.
Help us see which pages are useful and where the site is slow, so we can fix problems and improve it.
3. Advertising and Google AdSense
RecipeoAI is free to browse and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, and other third-party vendors may also show ads on our site.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to RecipeoAI or to other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our visitors based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are used, and can change their choice at any time.
- Without personalised advertising you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.
Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. See also our Privacy Policy.
4. How to manage or opt out
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Consent banner: where shown, use it to accept or reject non-essential cookies, and to change your choice later.
- Google Ads Settings: turn personalised ads off at adssettings.google.com.
- Industry opt-outs: aboutads.info (US), youronlinechoices.com (EU/UK) and optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Your browser: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, sign-in and some features will stop working.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law changes. The new version will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date.
